John Robert Murphy sings with Gregg Rolie

Evolution’s lead vocalist, John Robert Murphy, performed songs from super group Journey with the Gregg Rolie Band on three separate shows over the summer of 2010.

Gregg Rolie contacted John with an opportunity to perform with the Gregg Rolie Band for June 19th at Mohegan Sun in CT, the Lakeside Amphitheater in Lakeland Ohio on June 25th, and then at a huge outdoor show at the Wind River Casino in Riverton, WY at the beginning of September.

Gregg Rolie is one of the founding members of the mega-bands Santana and Journey, as well as his current Gregg Rolie Band. His singing talents will forever be immortalized by his lead vocals on classic Santana hits including “Black Magic Woman”, “Evil Ways” and “Oye Como Va”.

Rolie co-wrote and co-produced the band’s first seven albums and toured extensively with Journey. He remained through multiple personnel changes, including Steve Perry as lead vocalist in 1978, before exiting after the hugely successful 1981 live double album “Captured”.

John maintains a great friendship with Gregg and most members of the Gregg Rolie Band and believes that this opportunity can help promote Evolution at the same time.
